Our Services

Osteopaths famously treat problems with the spine but also diagnose and treat a wide variety of common musculoskeletal conditions. We will also refer you on as appropriate for further investigations where it falls outside our specialist area, such as imaging, medical tests or surgery.

Back ache & back pain

Low back pain is very common with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) estimating that around one-third of the UK adult population will be affected each year. They recommend both manual therapy and exercise therapy as suitable treatment approaches. At Leeds Osteopathy & Clinical Pilates we combine the two to give you the best of both worlds!

Neck pain & Headaches

There are many causes of neck pain such as stress, tension, muscle spasm, arthritis, trauma (such as a car crash or a fall) and poor working posture to name but a few. Sometimes a headache can be caused by pain or tension in your neck. Our skilled Osteopaths can diagnose the cause of your pain and work with you to get you pain-free and bring you back to health.

Postural aches & pains caused by driving or work

Awkward lifting, overstretching, prolonged repetitive forward bending/twisting, poor manual handling or moving and handling can cause strain resulting in damage to muscles, ligaments, joints and discs. It can affect many sites the most common being the low back and neck, but also other areas such as shoulders and knees.

People often take care when lifting but often don't realise that office based jobs can also strain your body. Poor work place set up, poor sitting posture and long periods of sitting can cause neck, upper back, low back and shoulder problems together with aching arms (repetitive strain injury/RSI).

Long commutes and commercial driving can also result in similar strains due to static posture and prolonged overstretching of muscles and ligaments causing aches and pains.

Our Osteopaths will work to relieve your aching muscles; give advice on driving position, manual handling, posture and desk set up and design stretches and strengthening exercises to help prevent your pain returning.

Our trusted professionals at Leeds Osteopathy & Clinical Pilates will get you back to health and keep you that way.

Sciatica (pain from your back felt in your buttock & leg)

Pain in your leg which is caused by your low back is often generally referred to as 'sciatica'. It can be caused by joints in your low back referring pain but true sciatica is commonly caused by a herniated ('slipped') disc. Our Osteopaths can test to try to establish the cause of your 'sciatica' so that they can then formulate the appropriate individual treatment plan.

Sports injuries

Our Osteopaths can help improve your performance by identifying and removing any restrictions in your body to improve movement and suppleness. We use Clinical Pilates to improve core stability and function and are certified practitioners in kinesiology methods of taping such as Kinesio™ Tex tape and ROCKTAPE to help your recovery and keep you moving.

Joint pain & arthritic pain

Through our lifetime we suffer minor/major traumas to our bodies (such as; falls, car crashes, sports injuries and fractures) this may increase the likelihood of developing osteoarthritis ("wear and tear") in joints. The most common affected joints are the knees, hips and spine.

Aging and lifestyle can cause postural changes (we become more rounded in our shoulders and stooped) which changes spinal/body mechanics increasing strain upon the joints, muscles and ligaments as our body. This can cause muscular fatigue and pain, joint pain and reduce mobility. It may affect internal organs; for example, increased stooping (thoracic kyphosis) results in reduced rib movement due to rounding of the spine effecting lungs expansion, intra-abdominal pressure and digestion.

We will work with you to improve joint movement and function and work together on an individual exercise program to manage your pain and improve your quality of life.
